Tim Barrow And Charles Henri Belleville RTS 2007 Winners
What Happend Next?
A year later, Barrow's and Belleville's expectations had been more than fulfilled. "Since winning the Raindance Award, The Inheritance has played at ten film festivals, including recently at the EU Film Festival in Ottawa, been nominated for 2 BAFTA Scotland New Talent Awards, and shown on 25 cinema screens across the UK," said Barrow. "We created a 60-minute documentary showing how it's possible to make an award-winning feature for £5,000, and released this together with the film as The Inheritance DVD. Reviews have been great, we've more than recouped our expenses, and are currently stocked by 50 retailers, as well as online."
"The Raindance Training Scholarship has been of great benefit, allowing me to meet experienced industry professionals, gain inspiration and advice, and join up the dots in the independent film world. I'm currently at work on my second feature, an Edinburgh-set story of love and redemption which we plan to shoot in summer 2009."
"I have just finished my second feature Midnight Madness," added Belleville. "This is a documentary about an annual event combating gun culture in London. I got the opportunity to direct it because of the Award and I couldn’t have made the most of the opportunity without the recognition given by the IFT. The film will be playing in various festivals. I also was selected to take part in the first UKFC/Film4 directors lab at the Edinburgh Film festival. This has led me on to being mentored by Kevin Macdonald. I have set up my production company Brotherhood films and now have received funding to develop my next feature which I am currently writing. The Raindance hands-on directing course I did through the trust was of great help."
"Since receiving the scholarship I have managed to get several projects into development. The scholarship gave me a fantastic practical insight into directing. It has been incredible and I would not be doing what I am doing know without it." These projects have included a succession of tour documentaries on notable bands such as Magic Numbers, Faithless and Razorlight.
Barrow continues the story: "In September 2009 we shot our new feature film The Space Between - a contemporary redemption tale and love letter to Edinburgh - which I wrote, produced and directed. This is the second feature from my production company Lyre Productions. Editing is almost complete and the film will screen at film festivals across the UK this year. More film projects are in the planning and we aim to shoot again in summer 2011."
