The Guardian, December 2009, on the BIFAs:

"[The BIFAs] have emerged over their 12 years of existence as the premier event celebrating British film."

This was where the third IFT/Raindance Training Scholarship was awarded to the production team of Andy Starke, Ben Wheatley and Robin Hill, who respectively acted as producer, director/writer and lead actor/writer of Down Terrace.

The Londonist, October 2009, on the 17th Raindance Film Festival:

"Their dedication in supporting independent film makers and recognition of the lack of funding available gives this festival a heart and soul and a spirit of generosity and openness not often experienced with these kinds of events."

This was the event at which Paolo Sorrentino was awarded the IFT-backed Film of the Festival Award for The Slow Game. This award carries the right to make the trailer for the following year's RFF - always a subject of controversy!

It was at this ceremony that the second IFT/Raindance Training Scholarship was awarded to Sam Holland and Ana Atanesyan, the winners of the Raindance Award for Zebra Crossings.
